Ron Meick currently works and resides in Arden, Delaware. He attended Rhode Island School of Design and received his BFA in Sculpture. After working twenty years in the Securities business, he now works full time on his artwork. He has most recently concentrated on printmaking and sculpture.
His work contains elements of the visual environment such as world events, scientific, archeological, political, economic, and social issues. These help form the imagery that result in an abstract metaphoric structure. This pluralistic approach enables the exploration of many subjects with his practice. Recent work has been involved with making monotypes (one of a kind prints), pebble lithographs, and wood sculpture.
As an ongoing series of small sculpture/prints, small monotypes have been printed, colored, and then crumpled. It is a process of compression, concentration, and unpredictable outcomes. All are started on 12" X 12" pieces of paper and result in an emotionally difficult decision to crush after carefully printing and painting the image. These small sculptures reveal only pieces of the original work.
